Hello! My name is Shannon Williams, and I'm so happy you've chosen to stop by my portfolio.
I am currently a 4th year teacher at West Middle School in Plymouth, MI and I teach 8th grade English Language Arts. Reading is my passion, and I strive to instill life-long reading habits within my students. My partner Ray and I welcomed our first child November, 2021 and we couldn't be more thrilled to grow our little family! We also have quite the extensive fur family of 2 dogs, Shiloh and Patrick, as well as 3 cats, Stella, Storm, and Soybean. It's a packed house, as I come from a background of adopting/fostering! We wouldn't have it any other way. My career aspirations heavily revolve around literacy and literacy learning/instruction. I would love to eventually work with small groups on their literacy skills, but am also very grateful for where I'm currently at in my early teaching career. Michigan State University has my heart, as I graduated from Michigan State with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 2017 and am now wrapping up my Master's Degree in Education through none other than the home of the Spartans. Go Green! (Go White!) I have additional certification in 6-8 English Language Arts Instruction, which is how I found myself teaching at the middle school level. It's very exciting and rewarding to be able to focus on teaching one subject- that just so happens to be my favorite to teach and to learn! Please check out the "Showcase" tab of this online portfolio, to see how Michigan State has prepared me for success in the classroom through not only literacy work, but student data-directed Master's work that has shaped how I teach in a way that strives to reach all students in my classroom. Thanks again for stopping by this creative space that houses so much of what has led me to a career I am proud of. Please contact me with any questions you have about my work! |
